Greece Town Hall, 1 Vince Tofany Blvd., Rochester, is participating in the second annual Giving Tree project through Dec. 17 to help families in need during the holidays.
The tree, located in the Atrium, features ornament tags that indicate needed items. These include new scarves, hats, gloves and mittens, and sweaters, as well as new and gently used coats. Community members can take a tag from the tree, purchase the item and return the unwrapped gift to boxes near the tree.
Ornaments are available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays-Fridays. On Saturday mornings and after 5 p.m. on weekdays, ornaments must be picked up at the Greece Community and Senior Center, 3 Vince Tofany Blvd., Rochester.
The Giving Tree will be set up in the Greece Community Center on Dec. 6 during the holiday tree-lighting ceremony and family Christmas party.
Donations will go to Mission Share Outreach Center of Greece, a collaborative effort of 13 area churches to serve those in need year-round. Visit missionshareoutreach.org for information.
“I am thrilled to be launching the Giving Tree project again this holiday season,” Supervisor Bill Reilich said. “I would like to thank Mission Share Outreach for partnering with the town of Greece as we bring the spirit of Christmas to those in need this holiday season. Time and again, I have witnessed residents stepping up and coming forward to help their neighbors in need. This is truly a caring community and I am so blessed to live in this town.”
