The community recently came together to donate $697,172 in 24 hours through United Way of Greater Rochester’s ROC the Day. This includes nearly $200,000 in challenge grants, bonuses and incentives.
Over 7,400 individuals donated on #GivingTuesday, a global effort to give back during the holiday season. This year, 546 nonprofits participated in ROC the Day.
A ROCstar was selected every odd hour to give $500 to the charity of their choice. Every two hours, the registered organization with the most unique ROCstar donors received a $500 bonus. This added up to $12,000 of additional funds to organizations across Greater Rochester.
In eight years, the nine-county region has raised nearly $6.2 million through the online giving event. Visit roctheday.org for information.
