St. John’s recently rang in the holiday season with its annual Illumination of Love Ceremony on Dec. 2.
During the event, St. John’s residents, staff and friends gathered to officially light the Skalny Courtyard for the season. Larry Lochner, a Lilac Neighborhood resident, served as this year’s honoree to flip the switch. The lighting event has been a tradition at St. John’s Home for more than two decades.
Illumination of Love serves as a fundraiser for St. John’s Foundation with lights around the courtyard available for dedication to honor or remember someone special. This year’s event raised more than $16,000 to benefit the residents at St. John’s Home with programming and resources that support an active and engaged lifestyle.
“Illumination of Love is one of my favorite events of the year as the entire St. John’s Home community comes together to celebrate the kick-off of the holiday season,” said St. John’s Foundation President Anne McKenna. “We’re incredibly grateful for all the donors and friends who helped make this year’s fundraiser such a success. These funds will help provide our residents with special amenities and personal needs throughout the year, such as beauty shop visits and new eyeglasses.”
