Food for Fines: through Dec. 15. The library will forgive $1 in fines for every item received, up to $5. Accepted items include nonperishable food, unopened and unexpired toiletries, soaps, paper products, and gently used or new clothing and household linens. Charges for lost items and collection services cannot be forgiven.
Winter Book Sale preview: 4 to 8 p.m. Dec. 6. For Friends of the Gates Public Library members. Membership costs $5 at the door. The sale will offer a large selection of books, puzzles, games, coffee table books and DVDs. Gift baskets will be raffled off.
