The woman was extracted from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene of the crash Saturday night.

Empire Boulevard in the town of Penfield was shut down Saturday night following a fatal car accident.

At about 4:24 p.m. deputies responded to the scene for a crash involving two vehicles and found a 95-year-old female trapped inside a Toyota Camry. The elderly passenger was extracted from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Following a preliminary investigation deputies determined that the Toyota Camry turned left in front of a 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche that was traveling westbound on Empire Boulevard and struck the passenger side of the Camry.

The driver of the Toyota Camry was transported to Rochester General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver and sole occupant of the Chevrolet Avalanche was not injured.

Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor.

The investigation is ongoing and there are no criminal charges being filed at this time.
Empire Boulevard was shut down in the southbound direction at Plank Road.
