Wendy Cooper, founder and president of the Healthy Highway program, has recently been honored with the 2012 Amazing People Award from the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance at a ceremony on Nov. 15 in Verona, N.Y.

Wendy Cooper, founder and president of the Healthy Highway program, has recently been honored with the 2012 Amazing People Award from the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance at a ceremony on Nov. 15 in Verona, N.Y.


Cooper received the award in recognition of her work in developing and implementing the Healthy Highway program in local elementary schools, as well as for her efforts in educating children to eat healthier and adopt active lifestyles.


The program, designed for students in grades K-5, encourages health, fitness and nutrition through traffic metaphors, highway imagery and interactive classroom instruction and activities.
