A big thank-you and deep appreciation to Vicky Shi and Kevin Zheng, owners of Penfield’s award-winning Hong Wah Chinese Restaurant, who graciously invited several of their non-Asian “extended family” (i.e., friends) to help celebrate the Chinese New Year at their Penfield restaurant on Feb. 2.

2. Warmth, friendships, good conversation and a delicious feast flowed the entire evening, hosted by the kindest and most thoughtful and generous two people.

Vicky and Kevin and their families and staff were on hand to join the guests in a warm-hearted, amiable atmosphere with caring service and delicious food. Cold weather, snow, sleet and ice did not dampen any spirits, and we all had a wonderful celebration with the Hong Wah Chinese Restaurant family.

To be invited to share in the Chinese New Year’s fete was a thoughtful, kind and lovely gesture, and we were thrilled to be included at the special event.

The world would be a better place if everyone could get along with such friendliness, warmth, respect and love as was evident at Hong Wah’s “Year of the Rabbit” celebration.
