CDS Monarch has launched a new service called “Golden Wings,” to assist seniors ages 55 and older who live in the community, to acquire and improve socialization, and provide them with person-centered recreation and leisure activities.

“We felt that it was important to do something to help the seniors in our community to remain active, enjoy a strong sense of friendship with their peers and have engaging socialization and recreation opportunities that provide them with an alternative to isolated or in-home care,” stated Sankar Sewnauth, President/CEO of CDS Monarch. “Golden Wings aligns with our mission to assist people to live and thrive in their communities.”

Golden Wings provides an integrated setting for all participants, which includes access to a therapy pool, fitness center, on-site restaurant, and more. The program also offers opportunities for community inclusion through activities such as attending plays, community events, visiting museums and historic sites, and participating in community service projects. Other activities include: Bingo, Arts and Crafts, Pet Therapy, Cooking, Music/Dance, Multimedia Classes, Knitting/Crocheting, Relaxation Activities, Gardening, and much more.

Golden Wings offers half day (less than five hours) and full day (more than five hours) options, from one to five days per week, for eligible seniors to meet the needs of each person and their family. Staff support is provided throughout the day in order to ensure the health and safety of participants.
