The 14th Annual Greece Invitational High School Bowling Tournament was held Dec. 28 at Dewey Garden Lanes.
The tournament consisted of both a boys and a girls division, a team event and a single elimination tournament with over 110 bowlers participating. The team format used the best five individual games of a school’s bowlers.
The three-game series resulted in Irondequoit winning overall for boys with 3212 total pinfall, followed by Hilton with 3122 and Webster Schroeder with 2920. The girls’ overall winner was Hilton with a new tournament record 3325 in total pinfall, followed by Greece Athena with 3096 and Greece Arcadia with 2817. Other schools participating included Spencerport, Greece Olympia and Greece Odyssey.
Team competition was followed by a head-to-head singles competition, determined by the eight highest individual series for each school and the next eight overall high series from any school. Bowlers were seeded from 1 to 16, and a match play format ensued. The boys’ winner was Irondequoit’s Chris Youlis with a 257 to 192 win over Hilton’s Zack Smith. The girls’ winner was Greece Athena’s Mallory Green with a 205 to 179 win over Alex Hasiotis from Greece Odyssey.
Other award winners were Mallory Green, from Athena, for girls high series with 702; Beth Heberger, from Hilton for girls high game with a new tournament record of 279; and Nick Gaglio, from Odyssey for boys high series with 807, a new tournament record and boys high game with 279.
The boys all-tournament team included Nick Gaglio, Odyssey, 807 series; Adam Turner, Olympia, 705 series; Kyle Bailey, Arcadia, 694 series; Fabian Rivera, Irondequoit, 694 series; and Nick McLeod, Spencerport, 667 series.
The girls all-tournament team included Mallory Green, Athena, 702 series; Beth Heberger, Hilton, 699 series; Kayla Kawyn, Arcadia, 680 series; Sarah Gerken, Hilton, 623 series; and Bailey Lucas, Hilton, 622 series.
