The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a nonprofit organization that helps those living in poverty, will sponsor the eighth annual Friends of the Poor Walk/Run at 9 a.m. Sept. 24 at the Basil Marella Park, 955 English Road, Rochester.
Proceeds and donations from the event will benefit those in the Rochester area in need of support with furniture and household items.
The event is held near Sept. 27, the feast day of the Society’s patron, St. Vincent de Paul, who ministered the poor in Paris in the 17th century. The event is sponsored by the Rochester Area St. Vincent de Paul Council.
