Child Care Council will host a conference for child care providers, early educators and the community from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 22 in the Eisenhart Auditorium at the Rochester Museum & Science Center, 657 East Ave., Rochester.

Cost is $25. Lunch will be provided, and parking will be available. The conference will feature national and local speakers from 9 a.m. to noon.

Attendees will learn about fire safety from Robert Cole, associate professor at the University of Rochester Medical Center and author of the award-winning “Play Safe! Be Safe!” fire prevention program. Each attendee will receive a free fire prevention kit.

Byron Garrett, chair of the National Family Engagement Alliance will speak from 1 to 3 p.m. Garrett is a consulting author for Scholastic and the author of “The ABC’s of Life” and “There’s Greatness on the Inside.” He has been named to The ROOTS 100 recognizing emerging African-American leaders younger than age 45.
