The Hilton Board of Education recently appointed Maryanne Chaffee to fulfill the unexpired term of Aggie Seneway, who resigned due to health reasons.
Chaffee’s term will end June 30. She will have the option of running for a three-year term during the board election May 16.
Chaffee and her husband, Glenn, have been Hilton Central School District residents for the past 14 years. Their son, Robert, attends Merton Williams Middle School. Chaffee has served as a parent classroom volunteer and president of the Volunteer Elementary Parent Teacher Organization at Northwood Elementary School.
“My time serving in VEPTO afforded me with opportunity to work with administrators, staff and various departments within HCSD,” Chaffee said. “It has been by far the most rewarding volunteer work I’ve ever done.”
Chaffee served on the Northwood assistant principal and district superintendent selection committees. She has taught religious education at St. Mark’s Church and volunteered with Cub Scout Pack 278 and Boy Scout Troop 18.
She has owned and operated Mac Services, a residential and commercial cleaning company, for the past seven years.
“On behalf of the board, we welcome Maryanne to a team dedicated to our students and public education,” said Nancy Pickering, board president. “Maryanne brings a range of experience and expertise to the board that will complement the work that we do on behalf of the district. We look forward to working with her.”
The board recently recognized Seneway for serving as a trustee for the past 15 years.
