Police Chief Mark Henderson has withdrawn his notice of retirement and will remain as the Brighton Police Chief after an outpouring of support received from Brighton residents and community leaders, according to an announcement by Town Supervisor William Moehle.
The chief, since announcing his retirement Dec. 29, has heard from many members of the Brighton community, area leadership, community organizations and families of victims of crime all expressing their desire for Henderson to reconsider.
“I feel honored and privileged to continue to serve the residents of Brighton and lead the men and woman of the Brighton Police Department. I am humbled and truly appreciative of everyone who contacted me since hearing of my forthcoming retirement plans, expressing their desire that I reconsider,” Henderson said. “It speaks volumes to the level of dedication and commitment Police Chief Henderson has for this community and we couldn’t be happier,” Moehle said.
