All Webster Central School District residents should have received a budget newsletter with details regarding the proposed 2017-18 spending plan and board of education election. Throughout each year’s budget planning process, the district evaluates our educational programs and collaborates with community members, faculty, and staff on developing a spending plan that maintains our commitment to keeping “Students First” and “Fiscal Responsibility.”
Webster CSD’s proposed 2017-18 budget maintains our nationally renowned educational programs once again this year. This includes a music education program that has been nationally recognized by the National Association of Music Merchants for the 12th year, a one:one student device initiative for nearly 8,400 students, and mindfulness training and lessons embedded in classrooms across the district’s 11 schools. Clearly, Webster is a community where our students and schools are valued; none of these programs would be possible without our One Webster community. It’s also important to note that the 2017-18 budget includes an estimated 0.51 percent change in your tax rate.
Remember that Webster CSD’s annual budget vote and annual board of education election is being held from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. May 16 at the Webster Schroeder High School gym, 875 Ridge Road, Webster. I hope that all of you will exercise your right to vote. You do not need to be a registered voter in order to cast your ballot; you do need to be a resident of the school district with proof of residency.
