The sale will join Treasures Along the Erie, a series of garage sales held Aug. 5 in the towns of Lyons and Savannah and villages of Newark and Clyde. Proceeds from the team’s garage sale will benefit its work in Limones, Mexico.
Donations can be dropped off from 1:30 to 7 p.m. Aug. 3 and 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 4. Items cannot include TVs; computers; electronics; large furniture items, such as overstuffed chairs, sofas, dressers, mattresses and bed frames; car seats or cribs; clothing; Christmas items; large exercise equipment; treadmills; bowling balls; or large appliances.
In 2016, the church re-established relationships with Presbyterians at El Sinai Mission Church in Limones, Quintana Roo, Mexico. Park Church members partnered with Living Waters for the World, the mission ministry of the Synod of the Living Waters to install a purified water plant to serve the community of 5,000 after hearing their need for clean water.
The mission team includes Frank All, the Rev. Kirk Baker, Sandi Marcano, Curt Richardson, Jeanne Salisbury, Paul Salisbury, Kurt Werts and Linda Werts, of Park Church; Ken Allen, of United Church of Canandaigua; Jeanette Reed, of United Church of Hornell; and Bob Edmunds, of North Carolina.
Team members are working to raise $20,000 to complete the system installation, train the operators who will manage the plant and offer health and spiritual education in the community when they travel to Mexico in February 2018.
