Volunteers are needed to help install smoke alarms during the American Red Cross’ Sound the Alarm home fire safety event Sept. 23-Oct. 15 in the Finger Lakes and Oct. 14 in Greater Rochester.
Volunteers will install 100 alarms in the Finger Lakes and 700 alarms in Greater Rochester.
Working smoke alarms in a home cut the risk of death by half, and having an escape plan further improves the odds of survival. The Red Cross responds to nearly 64,000 disasters annually, majority of which are home fires.
