Local musician Dave DiPrimo will make his festival debut at the Key Bank Rochester Fringe Festival at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 16 and 7 p.m. Sept. 21 at Java’s Cafe, 16 Gibbs St., Rochester.
DiPrimo, 20, became the youngest guest on the “Rochester Indie Musician Spotlight” web series in January 2017. His music reflects various genres, including pop, indie-folk rock, rhythm and blues and Latin.
The Dave DiPrimo Band features Karis Gregory on lead guitar and saxophone, Ian Benz on bass and Reid Hoffmeier on drums.
“This feels like a festival debut for DDB, new and improved,” DiPrimo said. “I love the Rochester Fringe Festival. It’s a bunch of awesome, talented and dedicated people working together for the sake of art and entertainment. We try to fit both categories.”
DiPrimo has recorded two albums: “American Dream” with Lee Heberger and a live extended play also called “American Dream.” In addition to showcasing new material at Fringe, the band will record a new album.
“This new album signifies our next step,” DiPrimo said. “It’s more aggressive and melodic then anything we’ve done before. The songs that I’ve written, nine total, come from old and new lyrics alike. I wanted these songs to be able to stand as works of art, poetic and thoughtful.
To bring these songs into the world, I reached out to someone who comes highly recommended, Matt Ramerman. The Green Room was the perfect place to record, and he was the perfect producer. He can take that idea in your head of how your song should sound and make it a reality. Plus, he’s an awesome guy. The new nine-song studio album, ‘Reflections,’ by Dave DiPrimo Band will be dropping this fall.”
