Monroe County Legislature recently approved the annual community development block grants for the village of Webster.
Each year, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development allocates funds to different municipalities to improve the parts of their communities that need it the most. The CDBG program, which began 38 years ago, is one of the longest continually run programs by the HUD.
I am proud to share a project that has received funding this year.
The village of Webster was awarded $60,000 for the Lapham Park and Park Ave Sidewalk Replacement Project. As a village that has over 20 miles of sidewalks, it is important that residents and visitors travel on sidewalks that are comfortable and safe. Replacing the sidewalks will give those that live, work or travel in the village of Webster a safer connection to shopping, school and recreation areas. These plans comply with the community plan for a more walkable community.
As the representative of the village of Webster in the County Legislature, I firmly believe this project will improve our community so that all who live and work here can enjoy our village and all that it has to offer.
