Norwich University’s Alumni Association honored former Rochester resident Robert Metcalf, Class of 1957, with the 2017 Sustained Service Award during homecoming festivities in Northfield, Vermont.
Metcalf, of Norton, Massachusetts, went on active duty in the Corps of Engineers after graduation, and became the senior technical officer on the general staff at Fort Dix in New Jersey. He received his Master of Business Administration in production management from Cornell University’s Graduate School of Management.
“The training, discipline, organizational and leadership skills I received at Norwich University have benefitted me my entire adult life,” Metcalf said.
He spent 30 years at Eastman Kodak in Rochester. From materials planning for film production to the scheduling of all roll film manufacturing for the U.S. market, Metcalf eventually went on to human resources for the government systems division.
Metcalf served the Junior Chamber of Commerce, YMCA of Rochester’s Resident Camp Branch, Cambridge School of Weston and Hunt Hollow Ski Club. He recently helped create a charitable organization to provide ski scholarships for local youth. Metcalf is an active alumnus at Cornell and Norwich.
