Kindergarten students at Ivan Green Primary School had visitors Oct. 26.
Firefighters from the Ridge Culver Fire Department spent part of the day talking about fire safety and the importance of being prepared in case an emergency did happen.
The children were taught the importance of one, two, three when it comes to being safe. One means that there should be at least one working smoke detector in their home. Two stands for the number of escape routes they should have in case of a fire. The three goes upside down and becomes a “m” — which stands for a pre-determined meeting place once everyone is outside.
They also wanted the kids to know what they looked like with all their gear on, so the kids can be familiar with how a firefighter looks, in case a rescue is needed.
The children were also allowed to climb up into the fire truck.
