Note: The following reveals the results of an event that was not shown live on American television but is expected to be shown on NBC and/or NBCSN later on Sunday. While News10NBC understands the urge to go into every Olympic broadcast fresh and unspoiled, the news and sports value of how a local performs in the Olympics is too important to ignore, especially as many other local outlets will also share the results. In recognition and response to previous complaints, however, we are providing this warning out of consideration for those who want to avoid spoilers. If you want to avoid spoilers on how Lillis or other athletes did, backspace out of this article now.
Jonathan Lillis of Pittsford completed his Olympics on Sunday, taking part in the Men's Aerials Finals.
When it was all over, however, the freestyle skier walked away without a medal, being eliminated in the second of the three finals rounds when he failed finish in the top six in that round of nine.
Although Lillis had finished tops in the qualification round with a 127.44 score and was able to advance through the first finals round with a 121.68 score that placed him at seventh (the top nine advanced), his 95.47 was not enough for the second round. He would have had to have scored at least 123.53 to make the third and final round.
Lillis' 127.44 qualification round score was one of the highest of the event overall, but that score could not be carried over into future rounds.
Ukraine's Oleksandr Abramenko took the gold in the event, while China's Zongyang Jia took silver and Olympic Athlete from Russia Ilya Burov left with bronze.
