The Webster Schroeder Warriors hockey team skated for the cause of mental health awareness Feb. 1.
Proceeds from the game vs. Victor went to NAMI Rochester — an independent affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Mental illness affects 20% of Americans regardless of their age, race, religion, education or income. These medical conditions can disrupt a person’s thinking, feeling, moods, ability to relate to others and daily functioning. The rink showcased 10 poster boards outlining various mental health issues to raise awareness of different conditions.
Money was raised through donations at the door, basket sales and a 50/50 raffle.
