Episcopal SeniorLife Communities recently welcomed dancers from Rochester Academy of Irish Dance at Seabury Woods in Gates to entertain residents and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
Seabury Woods offers assisted living apartments, memory care studios and patio homes.
“We take pride in providing excellent, individualized care for each of our residents, and are always looking to enhance our services by partnering with community organizations,” said Maureen Williams, director of resident services at Seabury Woods. “It was a great pleasure to have the Rochester Academy of Irish Dance showcase a festive St. Patrick’s Day performance for our residents as one of the many recreational activities offered each year.”
The performance in the memory care unit included 10 dancers ranging in age from 7 years old to adults. These dancers have performed at Seabury Woods for many years.
“Seabury Woods is one of our favorite places to perform,” said Sandy Oswald, director of Rochester Academy of Irish Dance. “It’s incredibly rewarding to see how receptive the residents are to the performance.”
Rochester Academy of Irish Dance has been in operation since 2016, and also performs in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in downtown Rochester. As members of North American Irish Dancing Teachers Association, it is a sanctioned institution registered with An Coimisiun le Rinci Gaelacha in Dublin, Ireland. Its dancers have successfully competed at local, regional, national and world competitions.
