HCR Home Care was recognized as a leader in LGBTQ health care equality in the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2018 Healthcare Equality Index.
HCR was the only home care agency in the state to make the list. The company earned a maximum overall score of 100 in the annual survey that recognizes health care institutions doing the best work and encourages equal care for LGBTQ patients.
To achieve this designation, HCR Home Care earned a top score in LGBTQ-inclusive policies and practices in four areas: patient-centered care, patient services and support, employee benefits and policies and patient and community engagement.
“HCR is very proud to again be recognized for providing equitable and inclusive care to the people we serve,” said Elizabeth Zicari, president of HCR Home Care. “We are especially pleased to have earned the leader in LGBTQ health care equality designation as a result of our perfect overall survey score.”
“We are delighted that our policies and practices to treat our LGBTQ employees and patients equally and inclusively are again being recognized by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation,” said Leslie Alvarado, LGBTQ program team leader and senior medical social worker at HCR.
The HEI is a national benchmarking tool that evaluates health care facilities’ policies and practices related to the equity and inclusion of their LGBTQ patients, visitors and employees.
