Rochester Museum and Science Center, 657 East Ave., will host the following programs.
Spring semester: Thursdays and Fridays through May 25, Cumming Nature Center, 6472 Gulick Road, Naples. Program provides children with space to nurture relationship with nature through unstructured play, curiosity-driven exploratory learning, hands-on projects and outdoor skills development.
RMSC After Dark — “Space Ball”: 7 to 11 p.m. on May 12. For ages 21 and older. Create a mini-planetarium, view Rochester’s sky through telescopes, explore the museum’s exhibits and enjoy food and drink. The Skycoasters to perform. IDs required. $15-$35.
International Day of Light: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 16. Enjoy themed pop-up programming throughout the museum.
Astronomy for Adults: 2 p.m. on May 16, Strasenburgh Planetarium, 657 East Ave., Rochester. Topic: “Astronomy on Your Computer, Tablet and Phone.” Registration required. $5-$7.
Forest Bathing: 1 to 4 p.m. on May 20, Cumming Nature Center, 6472 Gulick Road, Naples. De-stress and try the Japanese practice known as forest bathing. Take in the images, sounds, aromas and wisdom of the forest.
Summer Curiosity Camps: July 25-Aug. 24. For ages 2-15. Enjoy hands-on science and fun with activities that explore science, technology, engineering and math topics. Extended care available. Registration required.
Summer Wildcraft Camp: July 30-Aug. 3, Cumming Nature Center, 6472 Gulick Road, Naples. For ages 8-13. Experience the art and science of wildcrafting. Discover wild edibles, natural dyes, nature weaving and cobb sculpture. Registration required.
Electricity Theater: noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Sing as pressure waves radiate from coils that are manipulated to create a tune.
Science Encounters: 10:15 a.m., 11:15 a.m., 12:15 p.m., 1:15 p.m., 2:15 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays and school breaks. Discover over 20 different demos.
Animal Shows with Wildlife Rockstars: 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Saturdays. Members will share details about live native and exotic animals, birds and reptiles.
Science on a Sphere: 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays and school breaks. View real-time Earth system and planetary science data onto a 5-foot sphere that comes to life with animated weather patterns, atmospheric storms and climate and seismic activity.
Live Science Shows: 1 and 3 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays and school breaks. Enjoy live science shows on pressure, energy, hydrogen, light, color, temperature and physics.
Saturday Night Laser Shows: 8:15 and 9:30 p.m. on Saturdays, Strasenburgh Planetarium, 657 East Ave., Rochester. View lasers in bright and intense colors accompanied by music. $6-$7.
