Local celebrities will show their support and cheer on runners and walkers.
The certified race starts and ends at CP Rochester. This family-friendly event offers its 1-Mile Walk for Wellness in the adjacent neighborhood. Registration starts at 7:45 a.m.
Runners, walkers and rollers should register online. Brochures are available at Fleet Feet, 2210 Monroe Ave., Rochester, and various retailers in Monroe and Ontario counties. T-shirts are available to registered runners/walkers/rollers while supplies last. Cash prizes go to the top three male/female overall winners; other prizes go to top finishers in age categories.
This year’s honorary chairman is Annabelle Kresge, and her parents, Mandy and Brian. Kresge was introduced to CP Rochester’s pool therapy and site-based Early Intervention program after she was diagnosed with polymicrogyria, which affects a large portion of her brain. She transitioned to CP Rochester’s preschool program, where she attended for three years before making the move to kindergarten.
“Annabelle grew so much while at CP Rochester,” Mandy Kresge said. “She learned how to walk, jump, do stairs, communicate and be part of a class while at CP. The therapists there also helped me through a lot. I value the friendships we formed in our years there.
“We like to support the event, because it’s our way to give back just a little bit to an organization that has given so much to Annabelle and our family. We are so grateful for all of the people at CP Rochester and the experience she had there.”
Proceeds benefit Ability Partners Foundation in support of its programs and services provided to people with disabilities at CP Rochester, Happiness House and Rochester Rehabilitation.
