The suspect facing charges in connection with the death of Selena Hidalgo-Calderon appeared in Sodus Town Court Tuesday.

Alberto Reyes is charged with tampering with evidence, but investigators say they expect to file more charges against Reyes once they determine exactly how Selena was killed.

Reyes has been behind bars since last week after Wayne County Sheriff Barry Virts says he admitted to hiding Selena's body in the woods, but claims he is not the one who killed her.

ICE says Reyes is in the United States illegally from Mexico and has been deported twice before in 2016 and 2017.

Owen Hidalgo-Calderon, Selena's 14-month-old son, has been missing since May 16. Hundreds of people continue scouring the farm along Joy Road in Sodus for any sign of the toddler.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
