Webster Central School District will host Special Olympics New York’s annual Monroe County Public Schools Athletic Conference Spring Games on June 7 at Webster Thomas High School.
All events include about 500 athletes from nine area school districts — including School of the Holy Childhood — and will take place at Webster Thomas High School’s outdoor track and field facilities, 800 Five Mile Line Road.
The day’s events will kick off when the “Flame of Hope” arrives, carried by Special Olympians and Webster Police Department officers participating in the two-mile Law Enforcement Torch Run to benefit Special Olympics New York. Runners are scheduled to arrive at the Webster Thomas High School track around 9:45 a.m. where participants will make a ceremonial lap around the track as part of the day’s opening ceremonies.
Volunteer registration will be from 8:45 to 9 a.m.; athlete registration will be from 9 to 9:30 a.m.
The 800-meter race at track will begin at 10:25 a.m. Session one events will begin at 10:45 a.m., session two will begin at 11:30 a.m. and session three will begin at 12:15 p.m. The 4x100 meter team relay race will begin at 1 p.m.
Track and field events are open to the public. Spectators are encouraged to park at the Webster Ice Arena, 865 Publisher’s Parkway, directly across the street from the Webster Thomas High School Campus.
