Morell Financial establishes Pal-Mac scholarship

Deanna Morell, financial adviser and owner of Morell Financial Inc. in Newark, recently established an annual Palmyra-Macedon Dollars for Scholars scholarship.

A Pal-Mac alumna, Morell started her financial planning career in 1998.

Morell Financial, affiliated with Commonwealth Financial Network, provides planning services to individuals and businesses. It specializes in asset growth, risk management, retirement and estate planning and simplifying management of finances.

“Our chapter appreciates the generosity of our local businesses,” said Robert Yost, president of Dollars for Scholars. “We welcome scholarships from community members who wish to support higher education for local graduates.”

East Palmyra Christian School recently released the names of its senior class.

Aaron Peterham, Hannah Stenzel, Michelle Wiley and Kathryn Winslow comprise the Class of 2018 at EPCS.


Macedon Girl Scout receives 2018 Gold Award

Allison Haugh, of Macedon, received the 2018 Gold Award during a ceremony hosted by Girl Scouts of Western New York at Hyatt Regency Rochester.

Haugh received the Gold Award, the highest achievement in Girl Scouting, for her community-based service project, “School Supplies Should Not be a Luxury.”

Gold Award projects fulfill a need within a community, and create change that is ongoing or sustainable. Scouts put in approximately 80 hours of community service for their projects. The award qualifies Scouts for special scholarship opportunities.
