The boyfriend of dead Sodus mother Selena Hidalgo-Calderon has been charged for illegally re-entering the country using counterfeit documents.

According to a release from the United States Department of Justice, Everado Donoteo-Reyes AKA Alberto Ebarado Gutierrez-Reyes, has been charged with "possession of a counterfeit social security card and alien registration card, and illegal re-entry after deportation." The charges each carry a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Reyes, 26, had previously been arrested in September 2016 and March 2017 for illegally entering the United States. Both arrests ended with him being deported, according to the press release.

On May 24, 2018, Reyes was arrested by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office on evidence tampering charges related to the missing person case of Selena Hidalgo-Calderon and her son, Owen Hidalgo-Calderon. Selena had been found dead and Reyes admitted to having buried her, but did not say he killed her. Owen remains missing. After the arrest, the Sheriff's Office sent Reyes' fingerprints to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which determined he had no valid immigration status and was again illegally present in the United States.

According to the Department of Justice, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office found fraudulent documents belonging to Reyes during the missing person investigation, including a counterfeit registration card in the name of "Alberto Gutierrez" and a fraudulent social security card.

Reyes will make an initial appearance on June 4 at 3 p.m. before the Honorable Jonathan W. Feldman, U.S. Magistrate Judge.
