"It's not safe out there tonight."

The man accused of stalking a local college student in December was sentenced Wednesday.

Thomas Traficante, 23, of Long Island, NY has been sentenced to 4 years in prison for cyberstalking and distribution of a controlled substance.

Attorneys' handling the case say Traficante sent numerous threatening text messages to his ex-girlfriend, her college classmates and her housemates.

He is also accused of mailing drugs to her in an attempt to get her arrested.

The victim goes to school in the Rochester area.

An example of some of the messages were:

"It's not safe out there tonight."

"There are various people among different orgs who have hurt me. My plan is to hurt them."

"The only thing that helps is revenge."

The investigation also identified a prior victim who Traficante subjected to similar digital harassment in 2014-2015.

Wednesday's sentencing came as a result of an investigation by Geneseo University Police.
