The annual Fairport-Perinton Chamber of Commerce membership meeting was held at Monroe Golf Club.
A pressing topic shared by the members was the focus: 2018 tax law changes.
The program presenter, tys, llp CPAs was also the co-host for the Monroe Golf Club venue and was recognized as the chamber’s June Business of the Month. During their presentation, members expressed interest in the topic with questions.
Partner Tim Shortsleeve and Staff Accountant Marcia Adams reflected on their presentations: “The new tax law will impact everyone in the room. Do not underestimate the importance of planning!”
Their presentations covered tax changes. Individual tax changes are tax brackets, standard deductions, exemptions, child tax credit, itemized deductions and alimony. Business tax changes include corporate tax rates, bonus depreciation, meal and entertainment deductions and business income deduction.
A special touch for the meeting were sounds performed by three musicians from Rochester Area Music Project, who entertained the attendees during lunch. RAMP Owner Garry Manuel, Partner and Vice President Marshall Manuel and RAMP student and employee Mary Moore performed. They were enjoyed by the chamber and club’s staff.
The affirmation of the board members was tallied. The directors for this next fiscal year include: President Jim Bilotta, Vice President Katie R. Castro, Secretary Daniel S. Williford, Interim Treasurer Matt Clement, Public Relations and Media Director Diane McClure, Events Chair Ellen Reynolds, Membership Chair Heather Jones, Membership Committee Member Kellie Wright, Communications Director Daron McKee and Membership Committee Member Thomas Cappon.
