Speed limit changes are coming to the Town of Irondequoit.

A social media post from the town announced that effective July 1, 2018 the town-wide speed limit will drop to 30 mph while keeping most primary roadways at 35 mph.

The new 30 mph speed limit will apply primarily to side streets in Irondequoit. Most county and state roads however plan to remain at the current speed of 35 mph.

School speed zones will also see reductions with speed limits reduced to 20 mph, during schools hours.

“These reductions in speed were adopted with the safety of our pedestrians and motorists in mind,” said Supervisor Dave Seeley. “I am always mindful of the hundreds of schoolchildren who walk to and from school every day: Their safety is paramount: that is non-negotiable. I thank our residents in advance for their cooperation.”

A complete breakdown of the changes can be found by visiting the Town of Irondequoit website.
