The town of Chili sells E-ZPass On-the-Go tags for area travelers from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays-Fridays at the Town Clerk Office, 3333 Chili Ave., Rochester.
E-ZPass On-the-Go allows qualified businesses and municipal offices to sell prepackaged tags. Customers can purchase a tag for $25 and register it with E-ZPass before use. The tag will be active within 24 hours.
“We are always looking for opportunities to provide additional services to residents,” said Virginia Ignatowski, town clerk. “E-ZPass was at one of my training conferences. When I heard of the savings realized by utilizing an E-ZPass, coupled with the push toward cashless tolls, I requested to offer the convenience for residents to pick up the tag at our office. I appreciate the support that this received from the town board.”
E-ZPass provides a savings of 5 percent on all Thruway tolls and is accepted in 16 states: Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia and West Virginia.
The E-ZPass tags for purchase are for two-axle cars, trucks and vans for private use only. The tags are not for business or commercial use.
