A new season has started for the Pittsford Girls Swimming and Diving Team with their first meet on Sept. 5 at Mendon High School against Hilton.
This year, the varsity team has nine returning swimmers and continues to add many new young swimmers to their winning spirit. The team is led by junior captains Molly Brennan, Lauren Romanick and defending state champion Megan Deuel. Other returning varsity swimmers and New York State Public High School Athletic Association Inc. swimmers include Linnea Braun, Sarah Cooper and Annie Ritter. Returning sectional swimmers Meghan Corby, Anne Kealy and Nora Smillie are working to make improvements. New additions to the varsity team are Nakai Chinogwenya, Iala Cropper, Chloe Engin, Katherine Huang, Paige Romanick and Ellie VanHouten.
Varsity swim coach Marty Keating continues to prepare his young team for another competitive year defending their Section V and NYSPHSAA State Team titles. The S’Women junior varsity team, coached by Beth Dobberstein, plans to develop 11 more swimmers for a winning 2018 season. New coach Gabe Arias heads the diving team with a competitive group of divers including Kate Cooper, Carmen Kendall and Lara Phipps.
