An exhibition commemorating the celebration of the New York State Woman Suffrage Centennial is on display at Penfield Public Library, 1985 Baird Road, through mid-October.
“Because of Women Like Her” includes a series of digital images and panels with audio effects that bring together the stories of the people and ideas that moved woman suffrage forward.
On Nov. 6, 1917, women won the right to vote in New York State because of the efforts of Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and other women. A number of other lesser-known women and men are profiled throughout the display, which also includes a special section of suffrage speeches spanning the period 1848-1917.
