Opponents of the plan say they will continue their fight in the court of law.

Developers have taken another step forward in their fight to bring a Whole Foods store to Brighton.

Despite neighborhood concerns about traffic on Monroe Avenue, the planning board voted Monday night to approve the final site plan and modifications to the parking lots.

The Daniele Family Companies wants to demolish the former Mario's restaurant and Clover Lanes on Monroe Avenue to make way for a plaza that would include the Whole Foods store.

"Although tonight represents a giant step forward for the project, unfortunately, we're all still faced with the pending lawsuits from Wegmans, which are obviously intended on delaying and restricting competition. So we'll see what happens," exclaimed Danny Daniele of Daniele Family Companies.

"We're encouraged that we're gonna make sure this gets done properly. This is an oversized plaza that needs to be stopped," added Howie Jacobson of Brighton Grassroots.
