Country Gardeners of Webster chose the Railway Crossing neighborhood as its Garden of the Month for September.
The neighborhood started about 10 years ago. While looking for the garden this month, the Country Gardeners were struck by the number of individual gardens on the street. The homeowners start out with traditional identical landscape, but many expanded on that and put their own stamp on their yards.
Owners are allowed to expand their gardens, said Bob Tacito and his wife Roseann. The Tacitos have put in elephant ears, hydrangea and a blue caryopteris. They moved to Railway Crossing 10 years ago when there were a few houses on the street. The street is on the former Sweets Farm — party house — property.
Soon, the Country Gardeners of Webster will look for the October garden, which could contain the colors of fall in trees, shrubs and or flowers. Those who know of a fall landscape that can be viewed from the street are encouraged to call (585) 872-5352, (585) 872-3449 or (585) 872-0020.
