A student is being questioned by police after making a threat in the West Irondequoit School District.

Superintendent Jeffrey Crane says a student made a perceived threat against Irondequoit High School on social media on Sunday.

Crane says a tip came through the district's Safe School Helpline, which he says worked exactly as it should. Security at the school was then increased and the student was being questioned by police by 12:45 a.m.

Due to the ongoing investigation, police declined to reveal the nature of the treat.

Police say the school and the Irondequoit community are not in any danger, but security will be stepped up on campus on Monday as a precaution.
