The Harbor Town Belle was filled with Hollywood magic recently as kids ages 4-17 gathered to perform movie songs in a showcase on the Lake Ontario steamboat.
The sold-out event featured a red carpet, Hollywood theme and award statuettes for all performers. The Rochester Academy of Music and Arts students dressed as Hollywood stars and characters for their performances.
This was the academy’s first Hollywood-themed showcase.
“Music is such an important part of film,” says Brigid Harrigan, academy director. “Often what we remember about a movie scene, or what affects us the most deeply, is the music that accompanies it.”
This event served as a celebration of those moments and the musicians that make them happen.
“Rochester features a wealth of talent,” Harrigan said. “We want to make sure that our local kids feel recognized for their achievements. What better way to do so than to treat them like the stars they are and give them the opportunity to shine.”
