Greece Athena cheerleaders to perform in Thanksgiving parade

Leanza Gibaud and Gianna Palumbo, varsity cheerleaders from Greece Athena High School, will perform in the 2018 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.

Gibaud and Palumbo were invited to participate through Spirit of America. They serve as team captains and were named second team all-county as juniors.

They are the first women from Monroe County to be selected in 20 years. Among the selection committee members was Andrea Caswell, a Hilton High School graduate who performed in the 1998 parade. Performers are selected by invitation and/or qualification through summer cheer and dance camps, as well as award-winning teams.

Gibaud and Palumbo will spend a week in NYC to practice and perform their routine before the parade, which will air on NBC.
