Ferris Hills at West Lake, 1 Ferris Hills, Canandaigua, will host UR Medicine Home Care’s annual Caring for the Caregiver Conference from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25.
This conference is designed to give both family and professional caregivers a break from daily routines, with information and suggestions about providing care and support.
The keynote speaker will be Martha Stettinius, author of “Inside the Dementia Epidemic: A Daughter’s Memoir.” Copies of the book — one of the 2014 Top Alzheimer’s Books for Caregivers by Alzheimers.net — will be given to each conference attendee.
With a welcome from Michael Stapleton Jr., president and CEO of Thompson Health, other speakers at the conference will include Leslie Elliott, dietitian/nutritionist at UR Medicine Home Care; Mara Kouides, education coordinator for the Finger Lakes Caregiver Institute; Elizabeth Marsh, education coordinator for the Alzheimer’s Association, Rochester and Finger Lakes Chapter; Carol Podgorski, director of the Finger Lakes Center of Excellence in Alzheimer’s Disease; and Jane Strets from Crossroads Elder Services.

Ferris Hills at West Lake, the independent living community owned by UR Medicine Thompson Health, is accessed via Peg Rayburn Drive off the 3300 block of County Road 16 (West Lake Road) or via Clark Meadows Way off Middle Cheshire Road.
