Sheila McLaughlin McCarthy will replace Melanie McGuire who is set to retire at the end of December.
The Victor Board of Education has appointed Sheila McLaughlin McCarthy of Fairport as interim of director of Special Programs and Compliance. McLaughlin McCarthy will replace Melanie McGuire who is set to retire at the end of December.
McLaughlin McCarthy is former director of Special Education for the Fairport Central School District, from 1997-2017. Prior to that post, she was the coordinator of Preschool Special Education at the Webster Central School District and a summer assistant principal (administrative intern) at Monroe No. 1 BOCES.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in sociology and elementary education at Nazareth College, a Master of Social Work egree from Syracuse University and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration from SUNY Brockport. She also holds permanent certifications as a school district administrator and school social worker as well as numerous training certifications.
McLaughlin McCarthy said she is looking forward to joining VCS and working together with the Board of Education, administration, faculty, staff and parents to help students reach their maximum potential. “I believe my prior experience as Director of Special Education will facilitate a smooth transition to this position and I’m excited about this new opportunity,” she stated in a release.
