William Johnson Jr., former mayor of Rochester, will speak at “The Unabating Legacy of Frederick Douglass and the Black Church” at 4 p.m. on Dec. 2 at Aenon Missionary Baptist Church, 175 Genesee St., Rochester.
The free program will include selections by the Mass Choir, as well as remarks by community leaders and organizations.
“The general emphasis will be to highlight the connection between Frederick Douglass and the black church, and to inspire the black church to continue to persevere and lead the struggle for social justice in Greater Rochester,” said the Rev. Jonathan McReynolds, pastor of Aenon Missionary Baptist Church.
