Local Girl Scouts receive Gold awards

Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways recently presented the Gold Award, the highest award in Girl Scouting, to Lindsey Schaeffer, of Victor.

The award recognizes girls in grades 9-12 who demonstrate extraordinary leadership through sustainable and measurable projects. Each girl must dedicate at least 80 hours to planning and implementing her project, which must benefit the community and have lasting impact.

Schaeffer’s project, “Victor Astronomy Club,” created the first astronomy offering at Victor Senior High School, complete with college-level lectures, activities and presentations.


Ontario County vets nominated to state hall of fame

State Sen. Pam Helming, R-54th District, recently nominated 120 veterans to the New York Senate Veterans Hall of Fame.
