Just a short shout out to the employees of the town of Webster Highway Department who have been working in some unbearable conditions while trying to pick up leaves from resident’s lawns during this uncertain fall that we have experienced in 2018.
Normally fall snow arrivals at the rate of 3-8 inches in Webster, and our crews are able to pick up leaves and move around the fallen snow. This year has been an exception, and we have had over 13-inches of snow that has delayed leaf pickup and made it more difficult for our residents to get their leaves to the curb. With the constant removal of leave equipment to put on snow equipment and vice versa, this has hampered the operation considerably.
The Highway Department employees have worked in the cold, freezing weather, and they have been working on Saturdays to get the job completed. The weather forecast in the coming weeks is predicted to be on the warmer side, and our outstanding Highway crews will continue to pick up leaves for the next couple of weeks, weather permitting.
Please remember to put leaves on your curb, not in the roadway, and let the Highway crews continue in picking up leaves in what is going to be a monumental year for leaf pick up in Webster, as well as one that will be remembered for years to come.
Don’t drink and drive this holiday season
Our fine Webster Police Department will be out again this year with traffic enforcement during the day and evening hours looking for people who have had too much holiday cheer this time of year.
If you are going to drink this holiday season, make arrangements for someone to bring you home or call for alternative rides, like Uber, and make this a safe holiday season for yourself and other Webster residents.
As always, if you have any questions about your town government, please feel free to contact me during regular business hours at (585) 872-7068; or email me anytime at supervisor@ci.webster.ny.us.
