The Gates Chili School Board has placed Kimberle Ward on paid leave for unknown reasons and named an interim superintendent for the district effective immediately. Ward used to be the superintendent for the Naples Central School District.

The Gates Chili School Board has placed its superintendent on paid leave and named an interim superintendent for the district effective immediately.

Superintendent Kimberle Ward will be on paid administrative leave through June 30.

Back on Dec. 6, the school board announced that the superintendent was "currently out of the district," but gave no further explanation.

Ward was slated to retire in 2019.

Associate Superintendent for Instruction Carol Stehm was named the interim superintendent until they find a permanent replacement for Ward.

The Gates Chili School Board released the following statement Tuesday:

"The Gates Chili School Board has placed Superintendent Kimberle Ward on paid administrative leave through June 30, 2019. The board has also named Associate Superintendent for Instruction Carol Stehm interim superintendent effective immediately. The search for a new superintendent is progressing on schedule with the expectation of a new leader starting on July 1, 2019."
