The Kiwanis Club of Farmington-Victor and members of the energy and environment practice at consulting firm Bergmann recently completed a day of service at Canandaigua Primary-Elementary School.
Members of both groups spent the day with Sarah Chilson, director of The Spot, to learn about the community service organization and build meal packs for K-5 students in need in the Canandaigua City School District.
Over 140 students and their families received meal packs to help over the Christmas break. Meal packs are funded by organizations like the Kiwanis Club and Bergmann, with no cost to the school district or recipient families.
Volunteers also sorted donations for the school’s Giving Tree program, which provides holiday support like gifts, food, clothing, household items and supplies to dozens of families in need, crisis and/or transition.
Others prepared baskets containing food, supplies and toys for the Comfort Care program, which were provided by social workers to elementary school children who recently lost a parent or guardian.
