Deputies found the horse deceased and no sign of the vehicle
Deputies from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office and a humane law enforcement officer from Lollipop Farm responded to the report of a horse hit by vehicle in the town of Mendon at 5:30 p.m. Friday afternoon.
Deputies said the horse was struck by the vehicle on Mendon Center Road, just east of Clover Street. Deputies found the horse deceased and no sign of the vehicle.
The owner of the horse was present at the scene and believed the horse had exited through an unlocked gate from its pasture. The investigation is ongoing.
