Eastman alumni win Grammy awards
The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences recently recognized Eastman School of Music alumni Steve Gadd, Rob Paterson, D.J. Sparr and Karim Sulayman at the 61st Grammy Awards.
Gadd won best contemporary instrumental album for “The Steve Gadd Band.” Paterson’s “Three Way: A Trio of One-Act Operas” was included in the credits for Blanton Alspaugh’s producer of the year, classical album.
Sparr played a guitar concerto on “Fuchs: Piano Concerto ‘Spiritualist’; Poems of Life; Glacier; Rush,” which won best classical compendium. Sulayman was included on “Songs of Orpheus,” which won best solo vocal album.
